A season of waiting

Waiting is far more beneficial because the Lord is working on something marvelous in a secret place. 

 

HE is working on my character. 

HE is working on my heart. 

HE is working on my motives. 

He is working on my wisdom. 

He is working on me, boiling off every single impurity because there is no way God is going to present to the world an unrefined, unfermented underdeveloped product.

 

When it comes to winemaking, the fermentation stage is nothing more than a waiting area for the grapes. 

They have already been crushed, and now the grapes find themselves in an aspect of the process where there is no pain. 

It's in that transitory moment of waiting that God is preparing you for the next step. 

After crushing us, God exercises His grace by allowing us to ferment in the supposed stillness of transition so that we might be ready for the next stage.

성경의 인물들을 보면 누구나 주님의 뜻이 이루어지기 전 '기다림의 시기'가 있었다.

기다림의 시간은 대부분의 우리들에게 아주 힘들게 느껴진다. 

우린 이 시간의 필요성이나, 이 시간이 우리에게 가져다 주는 유익에 대해서는 잘 인지하지 못한 채 답답해 할 때가 많다.  

 

이 기다림의 시간은 우리에게 유익이다. 

이는 그 시간 동안 하나님께서 은밀히 놀라운 일을 행하고 계시기 때문이다. 

 

이 시간 동안 하나님은 우리의 모든 면 (나의 성격, 마음, 동기, 지혜)에 걸쳐 역사하시며 우리를 다듬고 계신다. 

우리가 가진 모든 불순물들을 제거하시며 우리로 하여금 다음 단계로 준비되어 질 수 있도록 돕고 계신다. 

 

와인을 만드는 과정을 보자.

포도는 먼저 으깨어져야 한다.

그리고 으깨진 포도는 발효 숙성 단계로 넘어간다.

이 숙성 단계에서 포도가 할 중요한 일은 그저 기다리는 것이다.

(숙성단계는 기다림에 다름 아닌 것이다.)

 

하나님께서 우리를 다음 단계로 준비시키시는 과정이 이와 같다. 

우리로 하여금 기다림의 시간으로 들어가게 하신다. 

 

그러니 이 기다림의 시간 동안 온전히 주님 손에 나를 맡기자. 

그가 원하시는 형태로 온전히 빚어가실 수 있도록...
